Biography

Hayato Hirose (b.1974- )

Hayato Hirose is one of the most active Japanese composers in wind band music. He has composed over 50 original band pieces, most of which are published by major Japanese and European publishers.

Besides his activities as composer and conductor, he has been a jury member for various national band competitions, as well as a guest clinician for amateur conductors and studentsat many local band organizations, whose training methods have been edited in several books (Yamaha Music Entertainment) and DVDs (Brain Music).

Mr. Hirose completed his bachelor's degree in compositon at The Boston Conservatory (USA), master's degrees in both composition and wind band conducting at Lemmens Institute (Belgium), where he studied with world renowned composer Jan Van der Roost. He is currently the faculty member at Shobi College of Music (Tokyo, Japan).

1986-1989: Lived in th United States with family
1993: Graduated International Chiristian University High School (Tokyo)
1998: Selected at The 2nd Kyo-En, the Japanese composers' concert for intorducing the new band pieces
1999: Selected as a finalist at The 16th JSCM Composer's Award by Japan Society for Contemporary Music
2000: Graduated summa cum laude at Tokyo Music and Mediaarts Shobi (former name of Shobi College of Music, Tokyo, Japan)
2003: Win the 1st Place, New England Student Composer's Competition (USA); Graduated with Kappa Phi Lambda, Bachelor of Music (BM) in composition at The Boston Conservatory (USA)
2004: Get married with Minako
2005-2006: Get scholarship by the Flemish Government, Belgium; Selected as a required piece, Bayerischer Blasmusikverband e.V. Wertungsspiele (Germany, 2005), Blasmusikverband Nordrhein-Westfalen Wertungsspiele (Germany, 2006)
2006: Graduated Lemmens Institute (Belgium), Master of Music (MM) in composition and wind band conducting
2007-2016: Full-time lecturer, Shobi College of Music (Tokyo, Japan)
2008: Selected as a required piece, Jungfrau Music Festival (Switzerland)
2009: Released the CD "Glory of David, The Artistry of Hayato Hirose" by De Haske
2011-2012: Selected as a required piece, Bayerischer Blasmusikverband e.V. Wertungsspiele (Germany)
2015: Selected as a required piece, Singapore Youth Festival (SYF)
2017- present: Part-time lecturer, Shobi College of Music
